Sir Redmond Barry, Supreme Court Judge, Melbourne, Australia, Judge in Ned Kelly case, Involved in founding University of Melbourne, Art Gallery, Mechanics Institute, Schools of Mines, cultural Societies, Born Ballycough Co. Cork, 1813 died Melbourne 1889.
The Redmond Barry Building is a significant building at the University of Melbourne, holding the Arts Faculty I think. Anyone from University of Melbourne would have fond memories. It is nice to tie it back to Ireland.

Died, 24th November 1820, Baltimore, Carolina, USA, Dr. Mathew O’Driscoll. of Creagh and Baltimore USA, 64, son of the late ‘The’ O’Driscoll, Creagh brother of Michael O’Driscoll Esq., and Died on the 7th May 1823, at Baltimore House, West Cork, of a Decline induced by too Severe Studies of Medicine which he had completed with great Distinction at Edinburgh Denis O’Driscoll Esq. aged 21, only son of ‘The’ O’Driscoll., Esq., of Baltimore and death of youngest daughter of ‘The O’Driscoll’ July 1826 from The Southern Reporter.
The O’Driscolls are one of the most ancient families in West Cork probably pre Celtic in origin.

26th May, 1820, Selection by William Swanton of James and William Swanton and Charles King as Enumerators to assist him under the Population Act (Census) for the West Division of West Carbury, Co. Cork.
Many local families from the area including Mizen adn Durrus including the Attridges, Bakers, Dukelows, Gallaghers, Kings, Skuses and Swantons were starting to emigrate to new Brunswick. Included were the ancestors of Bing Crosby.

1760, Account of General Maguire, Governor of Dresden, Born in the Parish of Ballymageligot, near Tralee, where his grandfather came from Ulster in 1641, his mother Mary MacElligot. He and is sister were carried to Vienna by their father who had relatives in the Imperial service. Miss Maguire married Count O’Kelly, Herald at Arms to the Emperor. Young Maguire entered the Imperial Army, became a Lieutenant General and Count of the Empire. It is to him and his near kinsman Major General Baron MacElligott that their Imperial Majesties’s Army are indebted for forming the Croat Pandours and other Irregular freebooters into disciplined troops.
