The North Cork Militia were on the Government side in 1789 in Wexford. They were predominately Irish Speaking, in contrast the Insurgents had no Irish.
A hurling club final in the early 20th century between Dungourney and a Wexford team had to be stoped because of taunts involving the North Cork Militia
