Reading through this list it truly does emphasize how devastating this time was, very sad. As I believe my Dukelow people came from this area but much earlier (about 1830) to Canada I am so thankful that they somehow managed to leave during the time they were going through also. I noted one entry for Ardravinna for a Mr. Collins who was in service there. Not sure what that would mean, but I expect he would have been labouring on the land. I’ve been to Ardravinna, very rural. There is one Dukelow lady there but she’s basically a recluse. Wouldn’t converse, has nothing to do with her neighbours. The old buildings there are locked up and the gate locked but at least I saw those from the roadway. A local church building with a date of 1935 (its very small) above the door was Methodist. So much points to my family being from this area. Nearby in Toomore is a Connell family running a B and B (lovely place and people, I highly recommend!). The Connell and Dukelow families were very much connected here in Canada….I keep hoping to confirm the actual townland, but not sure I can.
