John Jagoe Lahern, Bantry, Pigot’s Directory 1824:
I thank the contributor regarding John Jagoe, I have interest through my wife’s family of Young of Bantry, I have created a time line from 1590 through to 1851 when Dr. Thomas Young Cotter b.1805 Bantry was executor of the last Will and Testament of John Thomas Young b.1805 Bantry died 1851 Adelaide S.A. The will states property left to him by Thomas Young in Bantry, this connection is because Ellen Young is T.Y. Cotter’s mother and sister to J.T. Young. The relationship of the two men nephew and uncle is possible is due to Ellen Young being only 18 at her marriage in Bantry 1806. here is an excerpt from my write up “1770 John Young may be the brother of Elizabeth Young who married John Jagoe of Dunmanway in 1763. May have given evidence at the Parliamentary Fishing Enquiry of great grandfather losing money due to a loss of Spanish bank. This may be Bilbao 1640 putting the Young’s in Bantry from circa 1590 with Davenant and Melefont at the fishing. May be same family in 1795 a John Young of Reenraur was the father of John, Samuel and Robert he rented lands at Direenkelig to John Bird of Bantry the elder.
