The Catholic `swantons of Kilcrohane adn Casper Wyoming descedn from a Ballydehob Mining Captain working on the Kilcrohane mines. He married a local woman. According to family tradition he continuet to worship at St.James in Durrus but the children were brought up as Catholics.

I see a Captn Pobley, Audleys mines, contributed £1. I had a chapter on the controversial mines in the Ballydehob area in my book The Earls of Castlehaven Lord Audleys. Just wondering if you have come across articles on the many mines controversies in the Cork Chronicle or elsewhere
