Although Rev. Robert Morritt appears to be the villain of the piece, there were others who viewed him in a different light, as seen in the following – Supplement to the Trials of the Rev. Robert Morritt, A.M.
Quote ” He, …, is the very essence of courteourness, proprietery and decorum; if his virtues excite envy and give rise to conspiracies, he cannot help it, the fault is in the bad quality of mind which disgrace the wealthy inhabitants of Castlehaven and its vicinities”
“… this hostility was all occasioned by the circumstances of Mr Morritts having been more than twelve years since inducted to the living of Castlehaven, a benefice which would have so admirably suited one of the Townsend Family!!!”
