1824, Evidence of Alexander O’Driscoll. Magistrate, Skibbereen,  of Sale of Justice by Digging  of Potatoes and Cutting Turf for Magistrates, Notorious Extraction of Tithes by Reverend M. Morritt, Skibbereen, West Cork.

Alexander O’Driscoll, 1799, Clover Hill, Skibbereen, (two of same name in Skibbereen at the time not clear who is who) Middle man, 1824, Clover Hill, 1831, 1822, correspondence with Chief Secretary appealing dismissal of 1820.  Superceded 1810-30, listed 1838, dead with address Mount Music/Bunaulin, Caheragh when daughter Kate married Herbert Baldwin Esq., 1845. 1835 Subscriber at Gortnascrena, Skibbereen, Lewis Topographical Dictionary of Ireland  1837.

Alexander O’Driscoll, Norton Cottage, Skibbereen (two of same name at time), Ancestor Alexander married daughter of McFineen Dubh O’Sullivan, son of Tim ‘The Gauger’, sister Mrs Freke of Baltimore Castle,  1827 attended dinner given by Jeremiah Murphy, Hyde Park, Cork with Catholic Bishop of Cork, Dr. Murphy, John Cotter, Perriers, Gibsons, Jonas Travers. 1835…

The Beamish Book has an entry for Alice Beamish born 17th December, Acres, Drimoleague, married William G. Cotter b 13th November 1793, Derishel, Caheragh, died 11th March 1900, Clarkson, Monroe Co., County, New York.

Fisher, Teampall na mBocht.

1615, Purchase by Richard Boyle later Great Earl of Cork, for £100 of McCarthy Mortgage of fifteen Ploughlands of the Sluagh Teige O Mahown (O’Mahony) in Ivagha Peninsula, Ballydehob, West Cork.

There are references to the Coughlans, this branch wee protestant from around 1600 associated with Hulls and Boyle. Jeremy/Jeremiah married Susan Evanson of Durrus was attorney, seneschal, agent with Andrew Crotty for Boyle/Devonshire Estates in East Cork/Waterford. The Carrigmanus Coughlans are probably ancestors of one branch…
