As I believe my Dukelow’s were possibly living at Ardarvinna and didn’t leave till about 1830, then they possibly experienced the thatched roof incident! How interesting….Thank you!

No. I should have made it clear this was a Catholic Church. The Dukelows are of Huguenot background and in Cork are mostly Church of Ireland, There is one Catholic branch in East London descended from John Dukelow a shoemaker from Crottees in Durrus. My guess is their local churches were either The Altar or Schull

I made a visit to Durrus, Toormore etc…drove through Lowertown. In Ardravinna there is a very small Methodist church building…built possibly in the first 1/2 of the 1900’s? It is not used…windows boarded over….but right down the road are the remaining Dukelow properties….the old men gone…just a reclusive Dukelow lady living there…I wrote to her, but no response unfortunately.
