Art O’Leary, French Educated, Captain of The Hungarian Hussars, refused offer for his winning horse of £5 under Penal Laws by Abraham Morris, proclaimed an outlay, killing at age of 26, his wife an aunt of Daniel O’Connell ‘Caoineadh Art Uí Laoighre.

Arthur O’Leary, born Acres. Fanlobbus (Dunmanway), West Cork, 1729-1802, Hedge School to Capuchin College, St. Malo, ‘A poor Friar buried between salt houses and stables poring over his books’ at his foundation Blackamoor Lane, Sullivan’s Quay, Cork, ministering to Irish speaking prisoners St. Malo, Chaplin to Spanish Embassy London, British Government Pension, elected as member of Monks of Screw, friend Baron Yelverton ‘a fine smooth brogue, his learning extensive and his wit brilliant’. His father by his own admission was a scholar.

Colm Creedon of 6, Auburn Vilas, Magazine Road, Cork was the great historian of the Cork Railways. Most of his works are now out of print.
