Among the families involved in the Fishing Business in Bantry in the 18th century were the Jagoes. Families of that name were active in the Pilchard Business in Cornwall in the 17th century
It is now believed that Sir William Hull active in the West Cork fishery also had an operation in what is now Atlantic Canada in the early 17th century.
