West Cork History 
The Murphy family of millers in Bantry are in a family whose descendent in Australia I am researching. A business card of January 1927 has WJ Murphy & Sons, Sawing & Corn Mills, Bantry, Co Cork. I have now noticed on a death certificate of 1935 that Catherine Matilda Murphy daughter of John Murphy and Julia Shanahan, who up til now i thought had come from “Bantry’ actually has handwritten on this certificate as born “Durrus”, Bantry. Your blog site is therefore of interest and perhaps with your knowledge of history of the local area you would be able to refer me to further areas i can research to learn more about the Durrus area, lands held by this Murphy family, and their role in the Durrus and Bantry area. Due to the will of Catherine (Kate) M Murphy i already have several of her family and relatives names. Thank you.
