These are the core areas of 18th century poetry in Irish, Seán Ó Coiléain, ‘The Silver Tongue of Carbery’.

When the Cork poet JJ Callanan stayed on and off for a few years with Dr Burke in the Square in Bantry in the late 1810s these are probably the areas he wandered and from which he acquired the lore which late inspired his poetry and from which he obtained the verses in Irish he translated to English.
