Seanfocal ‘Is Fearr Focal sa Chúirt ná Punt sa Sporrán’ (a word/friend in court is better then a pound in the purse).
Probably explains how spin doctors such as Alastair Campbell who know the geography of Government and politics are so much in demand.
Leave poor Alastair Campbell alone. He is just a product of his clan. In Gaelic cam beal means ‘wry’ or ‘crooked mouth’. What else would you do with a wry or crooked mouth other than spin tales. Some say that the Cromwell family were Campbell’s who settled in England in the 1400’s. The name Cromwell appears to have originated from the same Gaelic/ Celtic source. We have in West Cork Cromwell Bridge in Glengarriff. Not called after Cromwell but because it has a crooked mouth or arch. I like the quote / seanfocal.
